ABOUT JOHN BRUGGER

I am a tax attorney primarily practicing in and around Lexington, Kentucky, but am also licensed in Florida and regularly practice out of Naples, Florida.  I have been a Lexington resident for about 20 years.

My focus is estate and gift tax planning, estate and trust administration and probate, business planning, business succession planning, asset protection and preservation, federal and state tax controversy, federal and state tax planning, and international tax planning.

I attended Michigan State University, graduating in 1991 with a B.A. in business administration.  I received my J.D. from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1997 and my LL.M. in taxation from the University of Florida College of Law in 1998. I have been a member of the Kentucky Bar Association (since 1999) and The Florida Bar (since 1997), as a member of the tax, real property and trust sections.  I have spoken  at many estate, gift and business planning seminars over the years as well as have had numerous tax planning articles published.

My wife, Hannah, and I live in Lexington, Kentucky with our three children. I recently lost my loyal office mate best friend of 17 years, Spartacus. Over the past 20 years I have enjoyed the mild non-Michigan winters.  While being a Michigan State and Florida fan, I have also found a way to root for the University of Kentucky, having gone to many basketball and football games over the years.  I admit that I possess an unnatural love for baseball, particularly the Detroit Tigers.  My life's ambition is to visit all of the major league ballparks, and plan vacations and trips around the regular season.
